Professor Asit Bandyopadhyay, the great historian of modern Bengali literature, for example, writes in “The Author's Note” to his book , History of Modern Bengali Literature ( Calcutta 1986): “ The scholar to whom I am most indebted in bringing out this book is my young friend, Professor Mohit Kumar Ray, Head of the Department of English, University of Burdwan . His advice and suggestion have been a continuous source of inspiration.”

- My paper, “Problem of Evaluating Oriental Drama by Western Standards” was accepted for presentation in the Plenary Session of the International Conference on “Cultural Intertexts” held on 13-14 October, 2005, at Vilnius Pedagogical Institute , Vilnius , Lithuania .
Acted as specially invited Resource Person in the UGC-sponsored Seminar and Workshop on “Indian Ethos in Anglo-Indian Literature”, organized by the PG & UG Department of English, Govt. Arts & Science College, Durg, Chhattishgarh, from 21- 22 October 2005. Delivered the Key-Note address and the Valedictory Speech in addition to chairing one Plenary Session.
Delivered the Keynote Address in the One-day National Seminar on “Indian Critical Tradition” on the occasion of ‘Sraddhanjali'(Paying homage to late Professor Prafulla Kumar Pati, organized by Professor Prafulla Kumar Pati Memorial Committee, and held in Hotel Akbari International in Cuttack , Orissa, on 9 September 2006 .
Participated as invited speaker in the Conference “Mozart in Anglophone Cultures”, organized by the Department of English, University of Salzburg , and the Interdisciplinary Research Centre Metamorphic Changes in the Arts (IRCM), from 9-12 November 2006, and presented paper on “ Don Giovanni and the “Circe” Chapter of Ulysses ”.
My paper “Crossing the river: a study in multiple temporalities and discontinuities” has been accepted for presentation in The XVIII th Congress of the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA ), to be held in Rio in July 2007, and will be included in Section 5, Identities in process: multiculturalism, miscegenation, hybridity .
My paper “Pound's Experimentations with the Noh : Some Critical Observations” was accepted for presentation in the 22 nd Ezra Pound International Conference, “Ends and Beginnings”, to be held in Venice , Italy , 26-29 June 2007.
Participated as invited participant and presented paper “Aucitya and Decorum: A Study of Affinity between Western and Indian Aesthetics” in the XVIIth Sanart International Congress of Aesthetics, on the theme “Aesthetics Bridging Cultures”, held at METU, Ankara, Turkey , from 9-13 July, 2007.
